The Manse, the house right next door to the church, was originally built and occupied by William Huntley Mathers, his wife and their six children, circa 1920. Sadly, he died six years later, but his wife continued to live in the house until her death in 1952. One of her daughters, Ruth Mathers Pyle Wolford Watkins continued to occupy the house. In 1964 she deeded the home to Clifton Presbyterian Church. The first pastor to occupy the house was Reverend Elwood H. Crick, his wife and 3 children in 1966. Other pastors and families have lived in the house since that time. It was refurbished in 2024 and is now available to the church and the community with flexible meeting spaces and classrooms.
The Manse will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM for tours along with the jewelry & art show and sale by the Art Guild of Clifton. Please take a look before or after shopping at the Silent Auction, Vendor Fair and “Stuff You Can’t Pass Up” sale in CPC’s Fellowship Hall!
